dell desktop advice

Options
hi all,i was all set to purchase this offer below from dell online for 489 but with the 4.5% back from quidco would have come to 467 quid.Anyway earlier when i went to process the price came out @ 548.99 and so with quidco it would come to 525,so an increase of 57 quid between yesterday (wish id of just payed yesterday lol) and today.

Anyway was just wondering if people think i should contact dell and say that yesterday i got quoted that price (did even register but my quote didn't save) or wait for the price to come back down (is this likely to happen? or if they can recommend a good deal for about 500 quid?

Thanks in advance. Adam

Dell are like DFS - always having sales - stay tuned to the site they just finished £70 off another range , look back thru this site - you will see all the deals that Dell have done. As the dollar is crashing prices may even be lower soon.

Here are their current offers most till 10/1/07 http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/topics/promo.aspx/promocompare?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs&~tab=1&~ck=tickerpromo

Remember they type of warrenty you get will really have an effect on the price
    Rich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.
  • Hi Adam. I just purchased my Dell system today aswell and was almsot in the same situation as you. I was going to go through quidco aswell but in the end I managed to get a better deal than quidco over the phone!

As I had already been e-mailed a proper quote by Dell I had no problem phoning them up and just saying I have checked the quote and it is correct and wish to proceed with the order.

Hope that helps. Call as soon as they open in the morning - the quotes are not valid forever! Also use saynoto0870 for the landline number instead of 0870 number!
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!
  • Also Adam I think you are working out your quidco wrong. It is 4.5% back EXCLUDING VAT so expect your cashback to be a fifth less than expected. Dell had a great deal a few weeks back but I missed that - 5.5% on quidco AND a 5% off discount code!!!

Hi,thanks for the replys,it appears yesterday that there was a free delivery but now you have to pay 60 quid delivery charge,i think ill call them 2mrw and see what they say,if not ill wait till when vista gets released cos i reckon they will have more offers then with a big drive etc to get people to upgrade.

Also with regards to the quidco, thanks for pointing that out, liitle thing i missed.
  • Did they e-mail you a proper quote with a quote number? If so then you should still be able to get it. If not then it should still be easy. Just call and say you want to buy a dell now, have CC ready but missed out on the deal as CC was maxed etc... Also tell them that they are always offering free delivery but you would rather not wait. If that fails then tell them you do not need the new deal for wireless keyboard, and in exchange would like the old deal back. They were very willing to do swaps for me after 30mins on the phone.

If you see a deal you are happy with then go for it now and don't look back. In my opinion there will be a premium added to all the new Vista loaded machines, just as there is with anything new in the market!

Ask to be put through to 'home sales'. This will connect you to India without paying the 0870 charges.
If your haggle goes above 20 minutes, and you are feeling cheeky, drop a line that goes something like "look, if we can sort out a deal we are both happy with then I can give my CC details and order now. I cannot stay on the phone forever, this is costing me and I am loosing money calling your hotline."
