Hospital Parking Fine

Options
Hi I hope you will be able to give me some advice, today we parked in the hospital car park (free to park) There was a row of priority parking spaces all clearly stating in red letters patient priority parking along the front of them and separated with white dash lines (sorry unsure of the wording), at the end of these spaces there was a white box with white zig zag lines inside it and after this box was another space the red priority parking lettering did not extend to this space. Rightly or wrongly we assumed this was a normal parking bay but on our return we had been given a parking fine. Were we ijust very stupid or does it sound like we were right to have parked there? (Sorry if its hard to follow the story, but trying to give as much information as I can).

The road markings have no legal bearing as such - they have no relevance from a road traffic point of view - and have been made up to suit the site. I assume that your "ticket" was from a private company or was it from the hospital trust themselves. By the way, you have not been fined - no organisation can do so without statutory power. I will bet every pound I own that the hospital trust have no such authority but will try to kid you on that they do. Have a read of the other threads here about private parking tickets and realise that ignoring these invoices (for that is what you have been given) completely is the best course of action.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
  • Thank you I will go and have a good read now thank you for the advice.

The lines are just part of the contract that they allege you entered in to.

Look at the ticket, ignore the waffle and get to the bit where it asks you to "send the money" tell us who this is, who wants your money, where do they ask you to send it and to who ?

My brother in law is a paramedic and reckons they are not worth the paper they are written on and they are unenforceable. I don't know how true that it but he has never paid one.

You are an MSE stalwart and you don't know how true it is that PPC fake PCNs are unenforceable twaddle? At least your bro-in-law does know, but when you get a bored moment you could check out the stickies on the sub-board and watch the Watchdog paper aeroplane clip linked to one:

I know we don't all look at every board - not possible on here! - but everyone needs to be aware of this scam.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Interesting that you have had 4 letters. The 'sticky' on top of this thread indicates only 3 letters; one from TCP and 2 from A.A. Hutton LLP.

It may be useful if you could update the sticky by posting copies (with your P&C details removed of course) of your 3 letters from Whyte Solicitors (or whoever) in case TCP have changed their modus operandi.

For my info, how long did you have to wait before you got the 4th threatagram after you got your original PCN ? I am asking cos I have now been waiting several weeks for my next threatagram from TCP.

    Many thanks.
