Getting Broadband for new PC

Hi,
I've just ordered a lovely new HP Pc from their website at a great price. As I'm keen to set it up ASAP, can anyone give this silly woman some advice about sorting out broadband for the new PC? I have a dial-up connection with Orange on my existing PC, and I want the changeover to broadband to be smooth. I've had a look at Martin's article on broadband and like the look of Madasafish. Who is the best for price and service? Should I arrange the new broadband connection and keep the dial-up for the time being? I have to give Orange 1 month's notice.
Thanks for any help!:T

it will take up to a month for your broadband to get set up once you sign up anyway so sign up with madasafish now and tell orange you want to keep you account as a PAYG account....gives you time to swap to new email address etc...
unless you are unlucky you will never need to dial up again !!Ex forum ambassador

Thanks Browntoa for your suggestion. I assume that you advise that I set up the new PC with my existing dial-up, and use that until the broadband can be activated. Sorry to be a bit dim, but I'm worried that if I haven't got it clear what I'm doing, I'll have to ring the Orange helpline, which charges 50p a minute, which is way too pricey for my limited means.

Orange give free broadband .on some plans .... http://freebb.orange.co.uk/offerinfo/
Orange offer upgrade path too http://www.orange.co.uk/membercentre/8meg/
Upgrade to Broadband Starter
* try our Broadband Starter for just £14.99
* you’ve got 30 days to make up your mind and get your money back if it's not for you
* Broadband Starter comes with up to 2 Meg download speeds and a free modem
* Or get it for free – all you need is an 18-month Orange mobile £30 plus plan As Martins article says - it is only worth doing the free one if you are already with a suitable plan with Orange and I cannot see if it is with free connection.
Look here for a 0800 number for Orange http://www.saynoto0870.com/companysearch.php 0870 2202002 01642 732773 Technical Support (Middlesbrough)
