Just bought a stainless steel sink from Ikea and found that it has no tap hole. Can this be drilled successfully or do I have to spend another £10 for some form of punch (FIXA 2 or something)
Anyone else come across this?

its possible to drill the hole yourself however clamp some wood undernearth so you dont bend the sink!!It might be worth drilling a small pilot hole first0

depends what taps your planning on using you could just have them free standingIf it doesnt pay rent sell it.

planning on a single mixer tap - bit worried about putting tap into the worktop in case it leaks a bit and damages the worktop0

It shouldnt be a problem in the worktop, just make sure you seal the chipboard with some sealer before sticking the taps in, that way it wont rot the wood in event of a leak0

Anyone else come across this?I did one a few months back but the customer had bought the cutter as well as the sink. The sink is a mirror image down the centre line so that it can be mounted left or right, you just drill the hole as appropriate. You can drill it yourself but you might feel more comfortable with IKEA hole cutter.

I used a punch to mark the centre of the hole, drilled through the mark with a standard drill bit to make a pilot hole and then finished by using a rotary burr drill bit to make the hole bigger. Cost me a fiver for the rotary burr drill bits from B&Q.
