Thanks Mrs Manda. That does clarify it a bit but I am going to study 90 credits and plan to complete in 4 years. According to the table on the same page as your link it says that amounts to 24+ hours per week and classed as full time. I imagine I will have some trouble explaining that, but will try anyway.

My daughter had a student account with Santander last year (first year of her 3-year degree course). They were hopeless - e.g. their cash machine swallowed her card and it took more than a month to get a new one, very poor customer service, and their freebie gadget insurance won't cover her Macbook. She closed the account in disgust and is presently using her old pre-uni Barclays current account.

Can she now open a new student account (probably at Lloyds) and still get their 2nd-year's overdraft entitlement? Or can/should she upgrade her Barclays account to a student account? She found it useful last year to have a second bank account to fall back on when Santander let her down...

Are any student accounts open to EU sudents? I've lived in the UK for 2 years, I'm on an Engineering degree at a good uni.
