Hi,
Hopefully, someone will be able to advise me.
I wish to use a TV monitor with my laptop. However, the laptop only has a 15 pin VGA (RGB) output socket and my TV only has a SCART available. Is it possible to purchase an interface connector that will suit this application?
Thanks

Do a search for "vga to scart" on ebay, seems there are cables from around £2.50.
Whether they will work ... don't know.............0 -
The cable will not work as it is just a cable. You need electronics to change the signal from your computer into signals which your TV can understand. The TVs that do work are TVs with a 15way plug, and are designed with the same electronics that are in a PC monitor, so the quality is as good as a dedicated PC monitor..
The adapter boxes do not put out the quality you would expect, and the resolution on your TV would not be as good as the computer screen.0 -
Item no. 310308563475 might do it.It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0

or possibly not having read the write up.It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.0

Something like http://www.maplin.co.uk/pc-to-tv-box-223833 would probably work. You'd then need a composite-to-scart adapter as well; about a tenner in Maplin.0

VGA also only does video so if your TV 'only' has a scart socket you'll have to either use your laptop speakers / external speakers on the laptop.0

Also, the quality over SCART will be awful, specifically the resolution. If you can do it for under a fiver and it's useful, go for it I guess though. As above, VGA only carries the picture so you need to sort the sound too.0
