Does anyone have the RBS student account?

Just wondering the specific terms of the £100 off an Asus laptop incentive, is it any Asus laptop, or is it predetermined?

If I remember correctly it was specific laptops bought directly from Asus. I remember thinking it was just a 'filler offer' i.e. something to make the list of benefits longer without being of much use.

    Try this link:

  • I'd have to say the last half an hour of my life may have been somewhat wasted speaking to six different people in order to get a new debit card for my student account (upgraded from an old account which had an expired card).

I wasn't exactly happy, filed a complaint with Natwest (that was the sixth person), and they've put £10 on my account for my troubles. I'm glad they offered, because the fact that four people weren't able to do something which I've been told by the customer care department can be done by any department, and that I was transferred to an outdated number to the student department which played a message telling me as much and hung up, is definitely NOT how I want to be treated by the bank i might end up with for years (just because of the railcard)

The terms and conditions have been further updated:

You no longer need to pay in £750 every 3 months, just every 6 months; but they have reduced the interest rate (on + balances) to zero!

This has still excluded those on part time courses, which I need to speak to Natwest about.

I don't think I'll get enough loan to cover their terms so will have to just use my normal current account instead.

  • Just a note on the Barclays student account, which offers £75 phones4u deal. Its something of an empty promise, as my daughter discovered. They wouldn't allow her to have a contract phone due to lack of a credit history! They instead offered her NO £75 off, and a rolling contract which cost £20 a month....which was more than than the contract she was hoping for. Also, should you be eligible for a contract, this is an online offer only, so where the phones are free with a contract in store they cost £30 or more online.
No win situation as far as I'm concerned...very disappointing.

I've always found Omio excellent for searching for phone contracts. Don't forget cashback.
  • Does the limit go up automatically or do you have to ask my each increase?
