Hi all,
In our newly published Student Accounts 2011/12 guide the Natwest and RBS Student Accounts are in our top picks.
They offer 0% overdrafts of tiered amounts up to £1,000 in year one. Then £1,250 in year two and £1,500 in year three.
We're after feedback from people who have applied this year and want to know your experience and if you had any trouble getting the overdraft.
Thanks for all help in advance

"In order to keep the overdraft, every three months you must deposit £750 and make at least nine transactions."
NatWest have now changed this to £750 every 6 months. Their website has been updated.
Also, do you know if the 2% cashback debit card offer applies to student accounts? It's not mentioned in the article but is mentioned when you click the apply button on the NatWest site.0 -
Hi -
The added bonus here comes for existing customers who've held a current account with RBS or Natwest since at least June 2011:
just been told by RBS chat on-line it's only available to scottish account holders - anyone got the railcard in England ?0 -
update - just been told by telephone it IS available to english students - think I'll toss a coin now !0
-
The terms and conditions have been further updated:
http://www.rbs.co.uk/personal/students/scotland/g1/student-current-account/account-details.ashx
You no longer need to pay in £750 every 3 months, just every 6 months; but they have reduced the interest rate (on + balances) to zero!
It's only a game

My youngest's paperwork from Nat West (is a current account holder with them) has received paperwork stating that he will get a five year railcard!0

Hi. I have just upgraded to a student account with Natwest. It's a really good deal. However after applying I was told that there will be freebies given if you upgrade after 18th August (on top of the free 5 year rail card), so if you're planning to upgrade wait a week to see what is given free.0

Wait until after 18th Aug to upgrade online and then you will be able to apply for the railcard (its for 5 years not 3). Look out for the email link and then you will be asked to apply for the railcard by scanning on a photo. Do it early so you get your railcard in plenty of time as things get busy nearer to September. Remember to let the bank know if you move during the year or your railcard renewal will be sent to your old address. After you graduate you will receive a further 3 years of interest free support which is really useful0

Thanks for that, I was considering upgrading before the 18th but I think I'll wait now.0 -
I must of spoken to about 8 people at Natwest and all of them deny the fact that you get the railcard even if you are a current customer. I have been a nattiest user since 2000 and they said that no such scheme exists!
Getting confused! Anyone have any advice for me on if they have been successful in getting this deal?
Thanks
