Quote for fitting TVR's - does it sound reasonable?

Options
I been given a quote to have 5 radiators in my home fitted with TVR's of £160.

I don't know yet the quality of the TVR's to be fitted but at first glance does this seem a reasonable price? And is there anything I should be asking for etc?

I've really struggled to find just one company to give me a quote hence asking on here as I've nothing to compare it to.

Many Thanks

If it includes the TRV's then it's a very good quote

The price of Trv's range from £5 to £20+ per valve. So i would expect the £160 quote is for the cheaper end lower quality of valve.
Another thing to consider is what type of heating system you have?
Pressurized(ie combi) you will need a good quality valve, and make sure they are fitted in the correct direction, otherwise you will end up with the valve knocking when shutting off.

I would also suspect that is a old system, so i would also relace the lockshield valves on the other side of the rads, worth spending the extra in the long run.

    Hope this helps????????

Nearly all the valves you buy now can be fitted in any direction.
i do not think you will have a problem with knocking valves.

Not all cheap valves are Bi-Directional.

So if they are cheap valves, most of which are very good, that will leave him £110 labour.

I would snap his arm off at these prices.

Add another £100 to the quote and it would still be very good value.

I'll take 10 at that price.

Many thanks for your responses - it is very much appreciated :)

For info my boiler is a combi about 10 years old and he didn't mention a type of valve so I'll ask him about that.

I think though I'm going to ask him to do the job even if we have to negotiate slightly depending on the valves he wants to use :D
    Again - many thanks
