    you have 2 options

    1) take it back to Asda and get refunded and replaced.
    2) take it to your council environmental services and have them contact Asda.

As you haven't mentioned getting injured by the plastic, what else do you think that you are entitled to apart from a refund?
Asda won't get compensation. All they will probably get is a replacement tub of the salad and this is if they can even be bothered returning it to the manufacturer.

    Interesting 'conclusion'

Return it to store and get a refund, or pay the postage and return it to head office - this may get you a gift voucher for your trouble.

Going anywhere else will be less timely to resolve for you and very unlikely to be any more beneficial by the end.

What's wrong with a refund? You bought a meal you presumably haven't eaten and will get your money back. What compensation do you think Asda are going to get? And what compensation do you think you need? Did you swallow the plastic and choke on it? Were any children hurt???? It sounds like you had an inconvenience of not being able to eat that meal at that time
Anyway you may get extra - we found some plastic in some soup, after we'd cooked and started eating. We took it back to Asda who sent it off to Heinz...we got a refund and about £30 worth of Heiz vouchers. And a few weeks later we got a lab report from the people that had tested it shoiwng they'd done analysis on it and the conclusion was that it was....a piece of plastic :rotfl: Never mind the vouchers, that wonderful piece of scientific expertise being shared with us was compensation beyond our wildest dreams :D

how silly, the plastic has contaminated the pasta and what has the plastic actually off, could be a piece of machinery at the factory

1)Take a photo of the plastic next to a ruler, to show the scale of the item. Also take a photo of the meal, and the bar code.
    2)Make photo copies of both.
3)Call the environmental health services team in your council. Tell them you want to complain, and ask if they just want the plastic item and the photos/packaging, or the whole product including food. Send them what they ask for with a letter with all the details of when and where purchased. Make a copy of the letter.
    4) Let EVH investigate, they do take it seriosuly and will put the scaries on the shop, who will have to reveal the supplier details. YOu may not have been injured, but the next person it happens to may not be so lucky, so please think of them, and make sure it is investigated properly. If you JUST leave it to the shop, the bin is the likely home of your letter/evidence.
5)Send a letter to the shop where you bought it. Enclose the copy of the letter to EVH with it, along with copies of the pictures and the packaging labels. Knowing EVH is investigating should incline them to respond to you properly.

In terms of compensation, you were not injured, so please dont expect much. YOu should get a refund at the least, and usually some good will vouchers of some kind, but expect more in the region of £5 than £50 or £500!

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

yes the last thing any store wants is EVH officers tramping through their store.

in Asdas case if you take it back to them you will be given a replacement along with a refund and the salad will end up in the bin

Why is it silly? Why would it have necessarily contaminated the pasta?
