Property Purchase
I've just purchased a property but will not be moving in for 3/6 months due to modernisation and building work. There will only be minimal usage as the property will be empty. Should I choose a tariff with no daily standing charge. Can anyone recommend a suitable tariff.

what kind of meters do you have at your property? pre pay or credit?
obviously a meter without is going to be the best option, because if your not using for fuel your still paying for the meter.
i work for npower and we have alot of tariffs with no standing charge, probably the energy bonus or football saver would be the cheapest for yourself. with the energy bonus you get £100 cashback after the first year and £100 direct debit bonus. so you could potentially save ALOT of money as there is no minimun usage, termination fee etc, but everybody's usage is different. best advice would be to check a comparison to see what suits you best but definately stay away from meters with a standing charge0 -
Meters are credit one's. Wasn't sure if I still had to pay a charge for the meter even if I wasn't using any gas/electricity? Do you know of a quick way of finding out if any providers do not apply a standing charge and also offer a low tariff.0

no sorry. i know the npower website has a tariff comparison tool which tells you if they have standing charge or not. the only tariff we offer on credit meters with the sc is the sign on line if my memory serves me correctly.
check maybe uswitch or compare the market, im sure it will show the best tariff and which has a sc or not.0 -
