Use Mac at home so new to this. Just got a netbook for traveling and think I need to get some security as will be doing online banking etc.
Seen Avast, $80 for two years, any good or is there better?

Avast is free it runs ok on my sammy, however when on the travels I use a live Ubuntu from a USB stick, no need for AV from that.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . As well as Avast, how about also using Sandboxie

MVPS Hosts

And Norton DNS

With MBAM as a scanner

Minimal resource usage and all play well together with Avast, just a suggestion, others may advise differently, but suits me.
Oh, and of course CCleaner (Slim), not really security, but a "must have" nonetheless.

And at that point your netbook will be so slow you'll be wishing you bought an MB Air!Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0

Because he doesn't actually understand what you posted, and wrongly assumes they are loads of security programs 'running' and slowing the computer.0 -
OK, what I understand is that the basic Avast anti virus is free but for shopping and banking online I need something like the $80 internet security version??? See here http://www.avast.com/en-au/free-antivirus-download0

I use Vipre. Simples!:beer:0

Vipre costs the same as Avast so what is the advantage? Plus if I buy the for life version do I have to pay for upgrades, it doesn't make that clear?0
