Afternoon all. I am wanting to open a separate bank account from my bills so I know exactly how much I have to spend and can't eat into my bill money. I have been looking at basic accounts but am a little confused over which ones have a "minimum monthly income" type thing, where you have to pay a certain amount in a month. I won't have a lot of money going in there a month at all but want to be able to keep them separate. I don't want an overdraft facility. I don't want to pay a monthly account charge type thing either. Basically I want a card I can use in shops to buy food as it can be a real faff to draw money out where I live, and somewhere to put my money and that's about it! Anyone help? I have my current account that I use for my bills with Lloyds, whether that's relevant or not I doubt but I'll throw it in there anyway
Thanks

Thanks

BTW good idea. Something everybody should consider.0 -
I have done this. I use a regular Halifax current account for my bills to go out off. The account does not have a minimum per month as I left it dormant for about a year. I use Yorkshire Bank for my Savings and regular transactions. I switched my D/D to Halifax because they only charge £10 if your transactions do not go through. I know you should avoid this but I have on occasion forgot to transfer the money or accidently used the card and not replaced the funds! Yorkshire charge £25, so there is a big difference and Yorks do not even notify you.0

Why not try a prepaid card for your spending?0
