small rectangle of quartz worktop - good supplier please?

Hi
I'm looking for a small section of piece of quartz worktop for an island - just a simple rectangle about 1m x .8m), so don't need templating etc. and just the most basic edging option.
Can anyone point me to a good but cheap supplier? I'm in Bristol?
Some of the online quote places are creeping into 4 figures!!!
Thanks in advance

The reason it's arriving at 4 figures is Quartz generally only comes in 3000mm x 1400mm slabs.

The largest Quartz supplier in your area is http://www.marbleflooring.co.uk/

Despit their name, these people are actually wholesalers, mainly of ArenaStone.

Go and see them, see if they have any seconds or offcuts you could have at a discount.

However, for someone to collect, cut to size, polish and deliver you'll get no change from £400 - £500 before the cost of the material - it simply isn't worth the bother for anything less.

While I am reluctant to disgaree with Alan M, in this case I must. I was able to get a rectangle of Quartz 900mm x 600mm x 30mm in Bianca Stelline for just short of £300, inc VAT.

Admittedly, the suppliers were also doing my granite kitchen worktop but they quoted the quartz subsequent to me commissioning them to the kitchen. Ironically, the firm was one Alan M actually recommended some time ago, Mole Valley Masonry near Gatwick.

I'm not suggesting the OP use them as it clearly doesn't make sense logistically, but I'm not sure you would have to pay £400 to £500 for a local supplier as Alan M suggests, if you looked hard enough.

At any rate, there's deffo no need to be paying anything into 4 figures.

Ah, the plot thickens... Thank you both. I will check out both of those suggestions in any case.
I have got someone who will install it for me and I could even collect myself if it wasn't too far, so I was thinking of somewhere fairly local or just en route to London as we make that trip quite often.
Thanks again for your help. And any other suggestions welcome too.... !

Mole Valley Masonry are a good bunch of people.

What you've had is an add on to a job that's been made from what was probably an offcut of material from a countertop (600mm wide.)

So cutting, templating, delivery and installation have already been included in the original quote - as they are there already it's very little work for them to add £300 to the job for a piece of material that is effectively free to them.

    Compare this with the OP.

He wants a company to fabricate from scratch a single piece of material, I assume it will need fabricating, delivering and fitting. If it doesn't happen to be an offcut it's coming out of a full slab.

There are two ways of doing this:-

    Option 1

You ask for exactly what you want, in the colour you want, in the material you want, made how you want - price will be 4 figures or thereabouts.

    Option 2

You approach local masons with a dimension and ask them what material they have that will cover that size in offcuts or unsued slab. No colour or material choice - price will not be 4 figures.

The more precise you are with your requirements, the more the price will reflect this.

Ironically, Bianco Stelline is an Arena Stone product. Mole Valley Masonry buy this in from the company I linked to in post #2 Known in the trade as MFS. It's kind of all come full circle in this conversation.

Not sure where you are based but I can recommend a good company in Basildon, Essex that may be able to assist.

If you google 'quartz offcuts' you should come up with several companies selling their off cuts cheap. At the end of the day offcuts take up space and as Alan M pointed out they have already been paid for in the original job so if you are prepared to be flexible with the colour choice, i.e. purchase an off cut that the fabricator has sat in his yard collecting dust then you should'nt be paying more than 200+VAT cut to size with the edges polished. That won't include delivery of course but a piece that size should fit in the back of a normal car.

Thanks for all replies. Found a local supplier who was very helpful and gave us exactly what we wanted for under £400!! Turned it around really quickly (less than a week) and I just had to collect it. Result. Based in Cheltenham - Hatherley Worktops.
