Hello everyone. We currently have a very old mixer shower in our bathroom that has been running fine for some time now.
Yesterday it decided it didn't want to turn off. I took it apart and can see that its the part called 'plunger plate' but the parts for these showers are now not available.. and i don't think i can find one from another shower unit? i would not know where to start looking.
Here is the shower.

So i have been looking for a cheap replacement shower as we cannot do with turning the valves on every time we want to shower.
I looked at showers like these that have the 150mm pipe spacing such as
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THERMOSTATIC-CHROME-BAR-MIXER-SHOWER-VALVE-TAP-SM61-/370383481116?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Bathroom_Shower_Units_PP&hash=item563c93691
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310328624411
however, the pipes come down the wall and into the left and right side of the mixer and its the mixer that is secured into the wall.. these all look like the pipes go in the back where the brackets are to hold it on also.
Any ideas?
I also saw these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280714957480&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1205wt_1139
but it would require making adjustments to the pipework which we really wanted to avoid money wise! I assume if we had to go for these then we would have to adjust the pipe and hope that the new shower mixer unit such as
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thermostatic-Bathroom-Mixer-Valve-Bar-Shower-Set-SV1007-/310333020979?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Bathroom_Shower_Units_PP&hash=item48414a1b33
would fit onto the brackets inplace of the ones it comes with.

Buy the available O ring set and replace all 4 of them. That should fix it but if on the remote chance that it doesn't thats the time to start looking for a replacement shower.

I don't see how the O ring set would fix the problem when the faulty part is nothing to do with them. Thats why i am stuckThings that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0

I have taken the unit apart and can see that its a part called the "Plunger Plate" which i cannot get hold of any more. It is this part as its a screw thread inside and has worn away and no use any more. After searching it seems there has been other people who have encountered the same problem.Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0

Well you didn't say that! Sorry - but I'm not a mind reader. You're knackered then. You need a surface mounted one by the sound of it - got a pic to be sure? 2nd one should work from what you've described. Turn the elbows through 90 degrees. Trot along to your local plumbers merchant and see whathe's got. These ebay things are cheap and nasty, made in PRC, stuff. No comeback if it all turns to the proverbrial.

I'm pretty sure i did, i said the fault was with the plunger plate. If it was with the rubber rings i would have known and said.dickibobboy wrote: »Yesterday it decided it didn't want to turn off. Hi Dickibobboy,
I too have the same old mixer shower (Armintage Deltaflow Supamix) which has recently broken, the problem being that the on/off dial grooves have rounded meaning the on/off dial just spins.
The parts I have been trying to get (without much luck) are the LH threaded brass screw (which goes into the plunger plate) AND the on/off control knob (+ associated circlips/ fittings etc) - If you are thinking of replacing your unit perhaps you would kindly consider letting me make use of the above spares from your unit?
Thanks in advance.0
