Cancellation surplus charges

Any advise welcomed.
I returned from a crisis abroad to find that my motor insurance (Aviva)continued on from 24th of May (automatically) as did previous year. I rang up on 8th of June to cancel and thought i did this successfully. But, this did not happen. Currently awaiting for a decision/ response from complaints department.
Having complained, i found out that i will have to occur cancellation fee from the extra options i took such as legal aid, courtesey car options, (the full comprehensive cover) etc. Because Aviva had to contact 'them' to cancel and that would in turn charge them for cancellation, hence they charge me.
Can this be happening or allowed? Especially as i was not told about it when it was sold to me. Can Aviva dump me with extra cancellation fee that they occur? Any advise/help most welcome.

Check the policy conditions for your extras. (Usually no refund is given if extras are cancelled mid term).0

Cancellation fees are legal and allowed provided they were advised and are "fair".
Are you sure? So you've read the entire policy booklet? and all the small print?Especially as i was not told about it when it was sold to me.
I'm guessing but I suspect it's there somewhere - it usually is.
If these are seperate contracts with seperate companies then yes within the guidelines/legal limits. Can Aviva dump me with extra cancellation fee that they occur?
How much are they charging you?
If you give us the breakdown we might be able to say more.
Normally you can't cancel the add-ons and have to pay in full.
I don't believe that has been challenged.0 -

Was it sold to you under advice or did you buy it?
Key information needs to be disclosed but not everything. Can you imagine the phone call if you had to be read pages of text. If the charge was in your published terms then that is normally all that is required. Whether you choose to read them or not is up to you.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
