Use an index tracker - either UK or World depending on your preference - which has no initial fee and under 0.5% (UK) or 1.0% (World) per annum fee. Put in some of your capital now, keep the rest in reserve for further dips. Add whatever you are comfortable with per month to benefit from pound cost averaging - Google this to see what it means. Here are 2 simple rules I wish someone had given me 25 years ago when I graduated:
1. Never pay an initial fee on any investment fund.
2. Never pay more than 1.5% per year for anyone to manage your money.
And the key number is Total Expense Ratio - some sneaky funds quote another number which leaves half of the true charges out.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0
