pc and monitor for £379, plenty of other alternatives if you have an anti Dell stance.

I wouldn't choose from those other 2, but it's all personal preference

    considered a laptop?

    If your budget is £1500

Have you considered a MAC? they are pricey but are designed to last for years and years.

Problem with a lot of systems is they come with so much stuff that isnt wanted, bloatware.

Are there any that have the 2 hardrives that constantly make a back up of main drive so it can be used like the disc image idea?
    Thanx

I think I might be confused ith a mac, I know they are supposed to be good but they might be a bit too different to what I'm used to.

I also heard that there are things you cannot do on a mac that you can on a pc

Its time consuming to go through all the uninstalling though but I'll probably end up having to get one and do it anyway

Thats a point I didnt think about the worms :) Would a new pc have a disc or something to go back to factory settings or reformat if necessary? I really need it simple
    Thanx

shouldn't take more than 10 minutes, or you could try decrapifier.

windows 7 has a disk imaging backup option, and I've linked to various other disk imaging options above.

PC's either come with a disk (or means of creating one) or a factory restore partition.

Make sure whatever you buy , do not allow your router to enable uPnP , oh and trim your budget to about £500 , plus £50 for an external drive for the initial backup and the later backups too.

My 24" monitor was £140. BenQ G2420HDBL (Very important to calibrate your monitor. I used Lagom. Calibrated it on Standard and use that for everyday surfing(Don't like staring at a super bright monitor). Move to the RGB setting for watching HD films. Excellent.)

That leaves £360 for the other stuff.

As the others have said, save your money. £500 in three or four years time will get you a lot more than you'll get now. Buy what you need. You don't buy a Ferrari to do your supermarket shopping.

I did not now about windows 7 disc imaging back up, one of my daughters has had windows 7 for over a year now and hasnt set that up so I'll pass that on

The monitor is going to be important really on that link you put stilltheone what does the vista premium mean? There are no built in speakers with that one are they as far as I can see.
I do want a 24 inch or above but how can I tell how shiny or reflective a screen will be? as I want to avoid that. I also don't like staring into a screen which is too bright either.
£360 for the other stuff, thing is with me needing windows7 on top that bumps it up so it might end up a bit more

I want to try and make a decision today and order, Will I need to call virgin media when I swap the pc over because of the broadband and will I have to fully re instal my router?
    Thanx
