Sims 2 serial number lost

Hi - my daughter loves her Sims 2 - the laptop she used to play on was having major problems so put it in the repair shop and they advised to take it back to factory settings - thought this would be ok as we still have all the Sims discs. However, she has lost the serial number for the original Sims 2 disc to put it back on.

Is there anyway she can get it from anywhere? or should we just buy a new Sims disc?

If she wants to play online you will need to buy another copy. If she just wants to play offline then there are ways round this.

There isn't an online part of the Sims 2?

The only legal way is to buy a new copy or phone EA and ask for one - they may give you one. You can sometimes get code generators or codes online, although you can't register it with Maxis if you are using one of these, and you probably won't get any updates.

But be aware that downloading "code generators" off the Internet is likely to get you more than you bargained for. It's a major source of malware.

Was the serial number registered with Maxis/EA? If so, you could try emailing them from the registered email address and explain the situation. It has worked for me in the past with another EA game I lost the serial for, but I don't know if that particular staff member just took pity on me or not . Good luck
