Potatoes to plant now
Hi guys,
I dugged out my potatoes and I had quite succesfull crop this year:j
Now I would like to plant new ones (in a potato planter, not in the ground) for winter as I've read there are some potatoes which are suitable for that, but which are good?
And anyone has any good offers, voucher codes or something to purchase them with? If I had to buy few potatoes and pay P&P for 1 planter that would be very expensive crop...
Thinking even about buying a planter & chitting potatoes to have 2 for winter...
Thank you

I don't have any advise on potatoes to plant now but no need to buy planters, use inside out compost bags. I've grown mine like that for the last 2 years and had no problems at all.
If you do use the compost bags make sure you put holes all around for drainage.2011 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £250 ~ saved £743.32

Hi,
Sorry, what am I looking at there? I cannot find any reference to potatoes I can plant now.. It only mentions last planting in May and then again in January?
The second page has other cool stuff though!0 -
Hi,
I used this link
http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/Profile.aspx?pid=593#section3
and planted in reusable supermarket bags with holes in bottom
Good luck0 -

Just buy Charlotte from Lidl, not sold as seed spuds, in the grocery veg section, eat what you do not plant
Ignore the doomsayers about disease etc, these will be for one crop, in a bucket / bag / pot specifically for Christmas, the compost after harvesting is then just spread / chucked onto a flower or fruit border of your choiceWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
I was thinking more of a roasting potato. If I can't find I will go for a new spud like Nicola or Charlotte. Was searching for Spunta but can't find any.0

I guess they still have to be chitted for a while on the 'sill' or can they go straight in? Thanks0 -

If from Lidl they can go straight in as they will mot have been sprayed with a growth suppressant, some supermarket spuds are sprayed, to stop them sprouting, which for using as seed spuds defeats the home gardener's object
You may like to leave them in the fridge chiller tray for a few days, so they think winter has come & goneWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
