technika

morning all,
We have had our Technika 32-601 for about 18months, we turned it on yesterday to see everything on the screen a misty geen colour, all the content of the programme was there so was the sound.
We tried the aeriel in another tv that was fine, we tried everything in the manual to no avail.
Of course it is out of guarantee and i have binned the invoice from Tesco.
We have been very pleased with this tv until now.

Please advis?

  • Maybe not helpful, but with cheap brands comes cheap components - and it sounds like a hardware problem, so I suspect you'll have to either get it repaired or (probably cheaper to) buy a new one. Suggest you try a decent brand this time!

don't write it off, find a local tv repair guy to quote for repairing it first, it may suprise you how cheap it could be, e.g. guy by us charges £40 plus parts, so could be way cheaper than a new one :)

Contact Tesco first and see what they have to say. Goods should be durable quality, 18 months for a TV makes it not durable, so you may have some leverage. The invoice/receipt should not be necessary.

Agreed - as long as you can demonstrate that you bought it from them (and when), a receipt/invoice is not required.

Did you use your clubcard when you bought it? The sale will have been logged if you did.

As Technika is a Tesco exclusive brand it shouldn't too hard to convince Tesco that it came from then unless they argue it could be second hand, ebay etc.

Can you check debit/credit card statement to prove the purchase and go armed with the info......

  • Mornin All,
Just for anyones referance if this happend to you.

We have tv sorted now, called out engineer to fix tv.
Although he couldnt say why tv screen went green, maybe some kind of spike.
He went through the menus found "restore factory settings" hey presto colour back on screen.
    £24.oo bargain.

Tesco only keep records of your points for 6mths.

I got in touch with the CEO'S office, they wouldnt do anything without an invoice or card satement to prove purchase, as i paid in cash no help.
But they did respond which is something.

Correct, you don't need a receipt, you need proof of purchase.
Glad you got it sorted. 18m is pretty good for a Technika TBH.

Really? We bought two for bedroom use. Both working perfectly after four and three years use respectively, as is the one FIL bought as a second telly around the same time.
