Planning a US holiday, when and how is best to pay for it ?

Hi All

Many Thanks for reading my post, I need a little advice. I am planning a large family holiday next year to Orlando. I am booking flights and the villa separately. Flights are fine, but the Villa is about $14,000 and I would like to know the best way to pay for it to avoid a credit card charge or a bank charge, for the exchange rate conversion ?

Also, the payment isnt due for another 12 months, so is it best to wait for the dollar to get stronger, or will it cost me more £'s if I wait ?

Get yourself a credit card that doesn't charge - though I'd guess you'd have a problem getting a card that will have a high enough credit limit to do that in one go. Otherwise no there isn't a way.

Your final question is really totally unanswerable other than yes no maybe.

wow thats a big posh villa for orlando, make sure you either get insurance if you are booking through one of the booking sites or you definately use a credit card with a realtor

Thanks yes, that 2.75% charge on the credit card could be invaluable, that's certainly something to weigh up. And yep, its a pish posh villa but there are 11 of my lot going, so we will bring it down a peg or two !

Did you mean to type $14,000? That sounds like way too much! How long is it for?

Yes $14,000 is correct, its for 2 weeks, and a 6 bedroom villa within a resort. It is a very nice villa

Sounds wrong u can get a 4 bed one for about £600 for 14 nights

Thanks guys, I appreciate your assistance, but the question inst regarding the Villa I am booking, and whilst I appreciate your concern about saving me money, my original question was regarding saving the charges from paying for something in the US. I simply put the price of the villa on the original post to emphasise the charges I would be incurring. If this is unavoidable then, so be it.

My rates are very reasonable

As for the $ rate, who knows. I moved here 2 1/2 years ago. Have been watching the rate closely for 3 years. I'm none the wiser now...
