Can't "Continue" on web site to pay for flight

Would appreciate some advice on the following:
Recently, every time I try to book a flight with Ryanair I find I am unable to proceed to the page to pay for the flight because it refuses to load. Its almost as if there is a security issue involved. I was blaming IE7 so I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and tried to book the flight thru that browser but the same thing happens. I called Ryanair and they confirmed there is nothing wrong with their site so I got my brother to book it on his computer and he managed with no problems. So why can't my computer do it?
If you can suggest anything, I would be grateful but please keep in mind I am a computer novice so keep it simple for me! Thanks.

Can you view any other secure pages like banking etc?
  • Yes, online banking no problem.

Have you run ccleaner? This will clear your cache out.
Also check firewall settings and security settings on your browser(s). They can sometimes be a bit over-zealous.
Oh, and your PCs system time, including date, must be correct.

  • okay - will have a look and check the settings. Will also clear the cache out but need to download ccleaner first. Will let you know how I get on. Cheers.

I had the same trouble with the ryanair site the night before last..... I think it's due to heavy traffic on the site. I had to enter my details 4 times before it would let me through. I was beginning to panic that I'd bought 4 seats! But all went ok eventually.
  • Well, I have downloaded and run ccleaner and twiddled about with the security settings and checked the firewall but still I cant get the page to load. I know the site is busy but I have tried so many times over the past 3 days Ive lost count Any more suggestions?

    If it's not just the fact that the site is very busy, you might try the following which has helped people in the past;

    Re-register the following .dll files:

    Softpub.dll
    Wintrust.dll
    Initpki.dll
    Dssenh.dll
    Rsaenh.dll
    Gpkcsp.dll
    Sccbase.dll
    Slbcsp.dll
    Cryptdlg.dll

To re-register these files, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
    3. At the command prompt, type the following lines and press ENTER after each line:
    regsvr32 softpub.dll
    regsvr32 wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 initpki.dll
    regsvr32 dssenh.dll
    regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
    regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
    regsvr32 sccbase.dll
    regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
    4. Click OK when you receive the message that DllRegisterServer in FileName succeeded.
    5. Type exit.

  • Zahc: thanks - have carried out your suggested instructions but the darned thing still wont load. FYI, I just tried it again and noticed a yellow warning flag came up this time at the bottom of the screen on the left hand side. I double clicked it and an error message was displayed with the following reasons:
    Line : 2306
    Char : 1
    Code : 0
    URL: https://www.bookryanair.com/skylights/cgi-bin/skylights.cgi
Does this throw any light on the problem?

Errrrm, I'm running out of ideas to be honest. I've no idea what that error means. The only things I can think of now is that you may have scripting and/or active x turned off. Might be worth a go. I'm thinking that when you downloaded firefox you imported IE settings...........
With luck a webmaster johnny will happen along and help you out with that error.
    Damn, I hate not knowing!!

  • Hi Zahc: thanks for all your tips. Out of interest, in the meantime, I noticed when I went to do some online banking (which works okay) there is a message on the opening page saying that if there is a problem navagating to the pages then call the technical support people because the bank may not support the web browser the customer is using. I spoke to them and they said IE7 has not been added to their list of supported browsers but it would be added soon. I think therefore that maybe because IE7 is so new some organisations just dont recognise it as yet. Even though Ive used Firefox it could be that Ryanair doesnt recognise it either - perhaps because its imported some of my settings from IE7??? who knows! Anyway, I am going to leave it for a while to see if the situation rectifies itself. Im not calling Ryaniar because they charge £1 per min to talk to technical support!!
Again, many thanks for your help.
