Daft Question?

After you get married, which order do you wear your rings in?

The reason I'm asking is that I've got a shaped engagement ring, so I'm going to need a shaped wedding band. The OH has already mentioned an eternity ring, so depending on the order of rings, I might need a shaped one of those as well.

If anyone's interested, here's my ring: http://www.grattan.co.uk/White-Gold-0.33ct-Diamond-Radiance-Solitaire-Ring/productdisplay.stm?An=673&A=16S780%5FV&N=426+608+699+673+706+4294966374&Au=P%5FMasterItem&Nu=P%5FMasterItem&Ns=P%5FColour%7C0%7C%7CP%5FSize%7C0

Thanks in advance!

I looked into this and I read it was your wedding ring first (as this is closest to your heart) then your engagement ring, so if you then have eternity ring that usually goes on last.
  • I think it can be whichever way you want but most people wear their wedding ring first because some like to take their engagement ring off for cleaning and things so it saves them having to take their wedding ring off to get to it. Also people tend to like their finger bare for their wedding day so it again saves them taking their wedding ring off to put their engagement ring underneath it.

Until I read about that I thought they should be worn in the order they are received in but I've changed my mind now.

    Hi,

I went & got my wedding ring on Friday & can confirm that the jeweller said that you wear your wedding ring first & then the engagement ring on top of that. I've also got a shapped engagement ring so took a bit of finding a wedding ring that I liked & looked good together.

I'm glad someone asked this I love my engagement ring and would like to wear it on my wedding day but if your wedding ring goes on first how do you do this? Have tried putting it on my right hand but it doesn't fit as well.

I love the idea of wearing an eternity ring on the right hand. On my wedding day I will have my engagement ring on my right hand then move it back over when signing the register or after the ceremony :)

I had my Dad put my engagement ring in his pocket before the ceremony and he then gave it back to me straight afterwards :)

My daughter wore my engagement ring on the day and gave it back to me straight after the ceremony.

Fawny, do you mind me asking where you found yours? Or where you think has a good selection? I suspect that Mr A is going to regret his choice of engagement ring in the next few years :rotfl:.

    Hi MrsAtobe,

I will have to ask the H2B tonight the name of the shop as I can't remember:o but I will let you know. To be honest most shops did not have any shapped ones in the window. One shop Marlow had one I liked which I tried but that was the only one they had, said there was not much call for them. Where I got mine from they had about 4 to choose from & I really liked them all so was not a problem. I had seen plenty on the website but just not many in the shops & yes both H2B & me said we wish we had though on a bit more when we choose my engagement ring. There are quite a few jewellers where you can have then designed & made which I don't think is megga bucks but I just wanted to get one & not mess around with having to go back:rotfl:
