Halifax Charges above £12

Evening,
Just received my SAR details back from the halifax from an account I had open from 1997 to present (0.36p balance!)
Using the guide I have calculated the charges + the 8% interest to £1387 in full, now reading on the site the banks are challenging these and only paying the last 6 months.
I have not used the account since 2007, which is when I changed bank and contacted CCCS and started my DMP.
The charges I accrued would have impacted in some way to me having to resort to a DMP, which will be running for another couple of years yet!
Since I already have the information is it worth me going for the difference instead or the full amount, ie some charges were £39 each, so go for £27 + 8% instead of the £39 + 8%
I dont imagine I have anything to lose apart from the cost of the postage, just wondered what peoples thoughts are,
thanks,

I think you may be getting a little confused between bank charges and credit card charges. The £12 mentioned in the OFT report related to credit card charges only - however it also states that this is merely the amount at which they will not investigate and they are not stating that this is either fair or a genuine pre-estimate of costs. Therefore credit card charges can be reclaimed over this amount.
For bank charges they have never been reduced to this amount and since the court ruling there has been virtually no success in reclaiming them. The only cases that seem to be getting looked at at the moment are for financial hardship and even then, as you mentioned, it is generally a maximum of 6 months charges that are being returned.0 -

Ah ok, totally miss understood that one, thank you.
So in that case should I send a SAR to my old credit card/s and then hit them for the difference between my old charges and £12 + 8%?
Are these claims still going through ok?Starting debt - £19,774.42 Remaining debt - £9,262.92

Reclaim all the charges from the credit cards including the £12 ones. They will probably offer you the difference between the higher amounts and £12 as a first offer but if you pass then they generally cave and refund everything - have on all 4 of mine anyway!0

Nice one, :j it's a Capital one so some charges from memory were quite high + the snowball affect when you can get back within your limit...very dark days in my life.
I have my letter going out today to request the detailed charges,
