Girlfriends parents losing house. Need Help!

I haven't read all the threads, but something that comes to mind is a property investor. There are people out there who want to invest in properties and would do it with your parents just to have a stake in the investment. They specifically look for cases like these as they know the tight spot and deadline create an opportunity for cash investors. This might not be the best solution offered, but could be realistic if nothing else seems quick enough and would ensure they stay in the house and maintain an equity stake themselves, albeit a smaller one. Let me know if you need more information.
More info on that would be good.0 -
Isn't that what the 'finance company' is? A property investor. They talk about their usual joiner, and so on, in the offer. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Hey, thought I'd give a little update on this thread.
It's been a couple of years since then, but might be worth an update to anyone interested.
They still have the house and managed to cut a deal with their mortgage company who halted proceedings and gave them some time. Granny flat is still unfinished but has been slowly progressing with some work and it's still up for sale.
I broke up with the girlfriend. Yes, I maybe should have listened to this advice. But apparently she was terrible with money herself spending all our savings and getting an overdraft behind my back on the joint account and spending that also. Turns out guzzling 2 bottles of wine a day, eating indian takeaway every night and smoking like a chimney drains funds extremely quickly. Lots of promises to stop, but all false.
I'm glad I never put my own money into anything!
But thanks for all your help, I learned a lot financially and personally0 -
All the best
Thanks for the update.
(Sounds like you had a lucky escape with the GF too. Just left my BF - from what you said, it sounds like we should pair them up!)

So glad you didn't financially and legally commit yourself to the debt on her parents' house / conversions ect.
You wouldn't be moving on so easily had you done so. Could have been a world of pain for you.0 -
