DreamerHelen's New Diary - "Ad Astra per Aspera"

Options
HELLO EVERYONE!! :j :j :j

A Shiny Bright New Diary for me...My old one was years ago and I don't think it reflected who I am today..

Soooo, I hear you all ask, what does "Ad Astra Per Aspera" mean? - It's very personal to me and I actually have it tattooed on my Ankle...It means - "To The Stars Through Difficulty" and it just means to me that it might take me a while to get to the Stars but it is so so worth every single difficulty and I CAN DO IT!!!

This is MY TIME TO SHINE and I am NOT going to let myself down...

There is a lovely Lady who's Diary I'm going to post in later and I'm slightly stealing her style of Diary cause I really liked her organisation and I thought that would be a great idea for me....

So I'll post "The Stuff of Dreams" as often as I can....and you can scroll past it if you like..LoL.

I'm doing a few Challenges this Year...I just have soooo much that I need to save for and I need to get my Life and my Debts in order...

A bit about me (for those that want to know :rotfl:) I'm a 33 year old tall brunette that lives in East London in a teeny weeny little Studio Flat...I live alone. I'm currently Training to be a Psychotherapist but it's a LONG LONG Training...4 years to be exact and I'm only in my First Year...LoL...but still, I've got this far and I'm not giving up yet!!

I'm currently Single...just broke up with someone and still feeling sad about that...but right now I need to look out for myself and do what I can to really start to love myself..something I've never really done.

Anyway...enough boring the lot of you (if anyone is actually reading this and has gotten this far LoL)...Please Please feel free to Reply and add anything you like to this Thread...And I hope to get to know some of you soon.

Love and Hugs, Helen.

The Stuff of Dreams

Save £4305 Before the End of 2011 Challenge
As I mentioned above I'm currently Studying. My College Fees are already taken care of for the rest of 2011 but next Year I have to pay £4305 and I'm not sure where that's going to come from so it'll be Ebay Sales, extra Wages, Tax Refunds (which I'm expecting in the next couple of months) and stuff like that.

Currently £0/£4305

Terramundi Pot Challenge (To Open Saturday 19th November 2011)
I'm going to an Exhibition at Olympia (not sure if I'm allowed to post the name of it since it's a bit, ummm, risque LoL). I'm going to buy my Terramundi next Week with this Week's Wages...and then start Saving with extra's from Wages (I can do as much Overtime as I like).

Currently £0/£500 (hoped)

Budweiser Botte Challenge (To Open 31st December 2011)
I have a great big massive Plastic Budweiser Bottle (appropriate since I used to work for the people that own Budweiser!!) and I'm going to fill that up with the odd pennies and coppers and 5p's and spare change. Not sure what I'm going to spend it on yet...I'm sure I'll think of something!!

Currently £2.47

£144 in 144 Days Pt 1
This is all going to be from earning an extra pound every day from Overtime at Work, starting tomorrow (Wednesday 9th August). This first part is going to be for a set of the Beauty and the Beast DVD's (remember the old Series with Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman?) and also a new MP3 Player.

Currently £0/£144

£144 in 144 Days Pt 2
This second part will be for what I call my "Soho Fund"....And that's for some fun things from Soho (I think I might leave that one for all your imaginations!! LoL :rotfl:)

Currently £0/£144

£144 in 144 Days Pt 3
This third part will be for a Table for Two (haven't decided who with yet!!) and a Meal and the Show for the Wam Bam Burlesque Club in London for January or February of next Year. It looks amazing there but the Tickets for a Meal combined with the Show is £70 each..so that should work out nicely then!! :T

Currently £0/£144

Writing A Book Challenge
So, I've been meaning to write a Book for ABSOLUTELY AGES!!! But never actually gotten around to it. So now I'm going to write one...Even if it never gets Published, so what, I'll still have written a Book. First step is to find out about practical stuff - ie: How many chapters should there be, how many words per chapter, etc. Then a Synopsis of the Book. Then start writing it....Oooooooh scary!!! :o

Losing The Weight For ME!!
So, I'm currently MASSIVELY overweight..by about 10 stones (and no, I'm NOT exaggerating). So tonight I started back at Slimming World, got weighed in and, what the hell I'm going to declare my weight at exactly 23 stones. Have stuck to my Diet for all of 3 hours...But I'm going to get there. No idea what my Target Weight is yet...I guess I'll know when I get there.

Start Weight: 23 Stones
Weight Lost: 0 pounds so far (first weigh in next Monday)

Well it's now nearly 4.30am and I'm up to Work.

I currently Work full-time as an Independent Telephone Operator which involves talking to people on the Phone and it means that I can set my own Hours and earn any Extra's that I want to...So that's why I'm up Working at this time of the morning.

Need to earn £22.50 for my Terramundi and also £3 extra for my 3 £144 in 144 days Challenges... :T

  • Hi Helen

Hope you don't mind a newbie popping in :)

Love the layout of your diary - it's very inviting!! And all those ambitions, great things to aim for.

I am a Slimming World geek too so I'm hoping I can get lots of SW friendly recipes off these boards, altho I do frequent the Minimins forum too for ideas.

Stick with it, it definitely works, I am now at target (altho I want to lose a bit more - some people are never satisfied, I'm one of them!!) and have been for two whole weeks, so at least I'm saving myself £4.95 a week!!

Good luck with the lb and £ busting :)

    Hi Helen! :hello:

Just read your first post and identified with you, so hope you don't mind me saying hello! :)

I too am overweight :o and also keep telling myself I will write a book one of these days! :D

I work in the media, and used to be a journalist, but have a different job in the industry now, so I'm used to writing just not fiction! :o

Have you thought about joining a writing group at all? I went along to one for a while and found it quite helpful, people read out short stories or a part of a chapter of a book they were writing. The one I went to was free, you just had to pay 50p or something towards supplies for tea/coffee/biscuits etc! :)

I look forward to reading about your progress - good luck! :A

Hey Lily....nice of you to join me in my Quest for Freedom
Hmmmm unfortunately with Studying and my very hectic Work schedule I don't really have much leisure time so joining a Writing Group wouldn't work for me...

I have wondered often about joining a Forum for Writers but I've never really found a good one....And also, what if I were to post a Story on the Forum andsomebody steals it?

Dont suppose you happen to know of any good Writers Forums?

Anyway...thanks for joining in and hope to see you here often :D

I just found this one: http://talkback.writers-online.co.uk/

My computer is playing up and won't let me post it as a link so think you'll have to copy and paste it. Never posted on there, but it's linked to Writing Magazine and Writers' News, which I used to subscribe to, so reckon it could be a good one. Hope that helps. :)

Don't know what would happen with copyright if you posted a story online, sorry!
