Mbna took unauthorised funds from my bank account

have an mbna card[1 week late making a payment] was called by an operator and made a payment by debit card over the phone.i agreed to make another payment i week later,however when i logged into online banking to do so,mbna had already taken the payment out.this was not agreed and i complained.they said the would have the incoming call listened to.this was on july 4th,now being fobbed of until august 29th.spoke to them and they said that the call had been listened to and now escalated.sound like the 8 week window to keep the fin/ombud happy.any advice, newbie

Complain to the bank. Tell them that the transaction was unauthorised.0

It's possible that when you say "I agreed to make another payment a week later", MBNA took that as you autorising them to take another payment a week later. It's in their interest to hold onto your debit card details and make the charge themselves rather than trusting you to keep up your end of the bargain - no doubt there are many customers who "forget" to do so. Still, if they didn't clearly explain that to you at the time, it's a little underhanded0

What exactly was said between operator and yourself,sounds like mbna may have taken your words to mean "debit my card on this day"0
