Laptop fan broken.

Hello amazing people,

I believe my laptops fan is not working and is causing my Laptop to get very warm at times.

Its a Dell Inspiron and out of warranty they said that it would cost £330 to come out and fix it....!

That seemed a tad overpriced.

Has any one got any suggestions...?

Many thanks.

    That's well overpriced,

You would need to take the laptop apart and look at the fan, it's likely the fan is clogged up with dust balls and fibers and stopping the fan from spinning properly.

You may be able to find a video guide on how to take your model apart if you google it.

I second the above. Its the usual main cause. If you don't want to do it yourself, a shop should charge no more than an hours labour.

They also said that I would have to purchase a new motherboard if I were to get a new fan...!

Sounds clogged up to me, better stop using it and try and clean the fan before it breaks altogether.

fan or hard disk keep clicking?

If it's the fan, it may be catching on the case, or has a loose connector

clicking every second sounds more like the hard drive rather than the fan. Clean the fan out and if it's still clicking, back up all your data while the hdd is still operational.....

THey were talking out of their arriss. The fan is not part of the motherboard.
