Wardrobes glued to skirting!

For some reason completely unknown to me (apart from the chap seemed to be fond of glue everywhere) the previous owner of our house has made "fitted" wardrobes secure by gluing (with some very strong glue I might add) some standard DIY shed wardrobes onto the skirting.
Any tips on how to get these off, preferably without destroying the skirting? So far I have a hammer and chisel but this isn't reaching far enough along to release the glue. My next plan of action was going to be sawing through the thin backs so I can chisel down the way.

Skirting board is pretty cheap and easy to replace, I wouldnt worry too much about it to be honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Would heat affect the glue? i once ironed the back of a unit to release a glued on mirror. Have you got a hot steamer with a nozzle for instance?0

Beat me to it, I was going to suggest a hot air gun, worst that could happen is that you will need to repaint skirting.0 -
Steamer nozzle would be a great idea however after some exasperated trying I found out that if you take every fixing out the wardrobe you can lift the floor up which reveals a recess and shows that the back is screwed and glued on. Removed the screws and the task becomes a lot easier!
Thanks for the tips though.0
