Unauthorised Transaction Claim

I have just received an email from PayPal telling me that a whopping £4.95 has been taken from my account whilst they investigate an unauthorised transaction.

First time I have had this and I know I am up a certain creek and my paddle has gone missing as when the person purchased this item, they made a couple of specific requests.

1) As it was a Personalised Card, they asked if we could hand write a note (signed by the name of the buyer)
2) Could we send it direct to the person, as its their birthday in 2 days time.(same surname, so I presume relative)

As it was under a £5, not a problem. The buyer has even left me positive feedback.

So despite the fact the buyer added a note to the PayPal receipt with the required message and delivery address and has left positive feedback I am going to lose this £4.95 aren't I?. PayPal only ask for proof that I sent it to the buyer direct, which of course I didn't.

So a lesson learned but how annoyed am I that this is being done. All for £4.95 as well.

You only get seller protection if you abide by their rules. Tbh for that amount, I too wouldn't have bothered to get them to repay.

You could contact the buyer, it may be that they didn't recognise the transaction and so stopped it. Could be any number of reasons.

I have forwarded the paypal email to them in the past, asking if there was a problem.

I would definitely contact the buyer here, many of these blasted unauthorised uses are not initiated by buyer and they might be totally unaware.

Well, I wake up this morning to an email from PayPal telling me that after reviewing the evidence I now have the £4.95 back in my account.

Well done, I bet it was another glitch.

Don't think it was a glitch.

I had to send off a copy of the PayPal receipt and an email.

On the dispute it self, it had the Buyer as the person that opened the dispute.

Paypal asking for a Paypal receipt? And an email of what exactly? Sounds very odd.

PayPal wanted proof I had sent it to the confirmed address. I of course didn't have this, as I sent it to the address supplied. On the PayPal receipt the buyer had added a note about the details he wanted on the card and where to send it.

I sent an email to add more to this, stating positive feedback had been received etc. Just covering myself more than anything.

I fully expected to lose the small amount of money but had to put my side across at the very least.

But have you contacted the buyer yet?

    You confused me by saying

Paypal don't ask for Paypal receipts, but you chose to send one. Paypal request a cerificate of posting or tracking.

Sorry, I used the wrong wording. I couldn't send what PayPal wanted so I sent what I had and that seemed to work.

Yes, I contacted the buyer within a few minutes of getting the email from PayPal. No reply as of yet and I don't expect one either.
