Is this normal for Barclaycard?

We had a statement from Barclaycard last month, we were over the limit but paid the amount they had asked for. This month we have just received the statement and find that once the interest has been added it took us over the limit and they have charged us £12!
We are desperately trying to stop using the cards and haven't used them in nearly 5 weeks but it's soul destroying to find we have done nothing except pay what they asked for last month and we still fnd ourselves with a £12 charge for going 'over the limit'!
Is this normal practice for credit card companies?

Normal practice for all lenders I believe is to charge for going over the limit even if its charges that takes you over. I know from experience with Barclaycard the statement will tell you how much you need to pay and its often around the amount your over by. However if you were making a payment via a call centre and speaking to someone they usually advise you to pay x amounts more to avoid the over-limit charge.
They seem to have a better idea of how much your going to be charged based on daily interest accumulation.0 -
I think I am just as cross with myself, I assumed the amount they had asked me to pay would cover the interest when it was added for this month - that will teach me not to be so stupid next time!!! :mad:0
