Stressed Out

Hiya,
I'm feeling a little bit stressed and confused about bank charges relating to spending abroad. I'm with RBS and I have used my card to top up my phone £10 on three seperate occasions and now my account has been suspended. My charges for this wouldn't have been spectacularly high (like in the £100s?), would they? I did have plenty of money in my account to cover spending for my six weeks abroad (and additional money in currency).
Also, if my debit card has been suspended due to suspected fraudulent use how would I rectify this? And would I require lots og my banking details because I don't have them with me abroad... I'm begining to panic if you can't tell.
Thanks for your help!

Did you inform your bank you were going abroad before you actually left. Its always a good idea, they maybe think
its being used fraudulently and have therefore suspended it.
Can you get a family member to ring them and ask them to ring you over there if yu cant afford the callsmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
and just for the record, you should have your log in details in your head, not written down on bits of paper at home.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Thank you very much, I think I should be able to afford the calls. I didn't inform them I was going abroad before I left - rookie mistake I know. I have defiantely learned my lesson.0

Another case for taking a back-up pre-paid card (or 3)0

Even if you tell them before you go away, it won't make a difference. The system is automated.
Imagine this scenario:
You tell the bank you are going away next week and that you will be using your card. You ask them not to block it as it will cause you inconvenience.
Whilst you are abroad your card gets cloned and used to take out your money, however the bank haven't done anything since you told them you were going to be using your card in X country.
Another reason why you should have up-to-date contact numbers with the bank at all times. They will try to ring on the number they have to confirm the transaction.
Just something to think about.Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion
