all the places on the train in to charing cross are worth a look. there are trains all the way from out in kent which also stop at places like petts wood or elmstead woods. they seem fairly village-like but i assume are also fairly expensive. there are other lines going through west wickham (admittedly, no idea what the centre is like!) and beckenham to hayes. there's also a train out to dartford which stops at a few places you might like.
worth renting for a while anyway, just to get a feel for what area you like.:happyhear0 -
Enfield (it's not like they are showing on TV, areas of the Town are very nice as is southgate.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

Chislehurst, Kent. Very pricey. Found a good one here, but that's about it: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-34816106.html
Definitely Blackheath, SE3, lots of open space, and right next to Greenwich Park - 'google maps' it. Very nice. One nice flat to rent: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-34773752.html
Tunbridge wells if you don't mind going further out.

My advice would be to ignore bigoted responses like this.0 -
If you want a garden (of your own) then it may push places like Chiswick out of your budget. Blackheath is supposed to be nice.
I like Herne Hill but it wouldn't be the quickest commute given where you'll be working. It is however very family friendly with good schools, independent shops and some great parks.
If you want more space/a house you'll have to look further out (but don't forget to factor in transport costs)0 -
Also check out Westcombe Park. It falls under Greenwich (SE10) and Blackheath (SE3), although mainly SE3. There's really not much there, but I lived there and loved the place. Just about walkable to Blackheath and Greenwich so the best of both worlds.
