AC adapter for keyboard/synth?

Hey everyone.

We had an AC adapter that came with my DH's synth and I used it with my Yamaha keyboard as it's one of those AC adapters where it has a dial and you choose the voltage and it has reverse polarity. I hope you know what I'm talking about.:o

I haven't used my Yamaha keyboard in ages and when I went to get the adapter, I realised that the plug bit that plugs into whatever you want to power has gone missing. It was one of those plugs that comes off but because we can't find it we need to get a new AC adapter. I know we could maybe just buy the bit we need but the AC adapter was getting on a bit and we might as well just buy a new one.:o

My problem is that I don't know where to start with what to get? Amazon has a couple but they're at like £2.99 and I don't want to spend so little money and then find that it's a health hazard.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a good place to buy one from? I've tried searching but all that seems to be coming up are AC adapters for games consoles and the like.

Thank you in advance.:o

If all you're missing is the DC plug that plugs into the keyboard, then get one of those from Maplin. Cut/trim the DC lead (with the adpator unplugged) and attach the plug you just bought.

That's exactly what I would do, but the problem for many will be that most of the DC plugs that Maplin sell are designed to be soldered, and attempts to use any other method aren't going to be reliable.

However, if you get a complete replacement power supply of the same power rating from Maplin you can be fairly sure that it will be safe and well-built - certainly more so than buying off eBay, for example.

If the adapter you've got still has its lead that ends in a 2-pin socket, you can buy the sets of 'tips' separately.

    Individual right angle plugs
    DC standard range
    DC specialist range
    DC expert range

    Thanks everyone for your replies.

Those links are really helpful. How do I know which size I need? :o

Edit: Ignore me. Think I shall get one of the sets just incase I need different ones in the future.:)

    Thank you.
