Hi, got up to £500 for a new base unit and would be grateful for ome advice on the best and most up to date system I can get for this proice. I work with Photoshop and Web Design Software such as Dreamweaver and would like to get into video editing so I guess a huge hard drive (or two !) loads of ram and a fast processor are a must.
Any advice or guidance gratefully accepted
Thanks
David

Well, can you build one or know someone who can or off the shelf?formerly mrmilo690

Why bother to build one when there's loads of offers around!
I always check the magazine reviews and take the lead from there. Companies like Evesham and Mesh seem to feature regularly.
I've bought from Mesh the last 2 times and they seem reliable and good vfm. They also get loads of magazine recommendations. Check out their sale here. Note the free upgrades to Vista (if you're interested!)-

I can build a PC but not sure if I can be bothered - would probably prefer an off the shelf product although could be tempted if the price difference for the self build gave me a better specced PC

look for a core II duo and 2gb ram - graphics card doesn't have to be anything special unless you plan to play games and then whatever size hd you think you need but you can always add another at a later date (and they should be cheaper then) although photoshop will benefit from being on a seperate drive to the images and to the pagefile.0
