Thanks Leif - I think we're likely to be choosing from either an Optiplan or a PWS (Second Nature) kitchen. Hoping to get the Optiplan quote tomorrow. Our other quotes are:
Howdens (Glendevon Dark Oak Gloss) £7,800 (excluding appliances)
Magnet (Wenge) £8,296 ( " " )
Hope the kitchen fitting is going well!0 -

Looks like Optiplan are not so expensive given the Howdens and Magnet quotes. Mind you mine was basic i.e. no fancy pull out larder etc. Is that the Howdens RRP before discount? It seems a bit high.
Fitting seems to be going well. He has left a couple of scuffs back to the plaster in my newly painted wall which I'll have to touch up with paint, but otherwise he seems to be a careful methodical worker.
Don't forget the price of installation and delivery when comparing.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
Yes, the quotes were including discounts....
Howdens = 70% discount. Net prices:
Magic corner pull out at £571.80
Tower decor end £741.60 - ridiculous!
Base decor end £321.30
300mm Pull out larder £240.60
2.4m curved post £304.20 - whatever that is!
Magnet = 60% discount. Net prices
Tall end panel at £764.84 !!
300mm Pull out larder £610.30
WW A 19+GRI £412.63 - whatever this is it is £1031.58
gross!
They both seem high to me too, especially Howdens. I really don't know where they get all these prices from - The end panels in particular are a ridiculous price!!
Our builder will be fitting the kitchen so it will be same price wherever we get it from.0 -

Yes it has gone well. The fitter did an excellent job. I am impressed by Optiplan as they are VERY organised. They arranged at the last minute for the fitter to arrive not long after the units were delivered, as they knew I lived 15 miles away from the house. Then at the end they arranged for the fitter to arrive at 8am, along with the worktop people to collect the templates. So no need to take time off work. Very well organised. And very well fitted too. I suspect other companies such as Magnet are good too, but certainly Optiplan are on the ball. One thing I do like is that I paid money directly to the people who delivered the units, and to the fitter too. I like the idea that they get the money, rather than Optiplan. B&Q et all have a habit of creaming off large amounts. Who do you think will give the better fit?
By the way, Optiplan are advertising for fitters. The salary is ~£60K. I have to admit that I am not surprised. I presume other good names pay similar sums. The chap who did my kitchen had a huge 'device' in the lounge, possibly a cutter, and a large number of drills and other tools. Everything is very neatly done. Apart from some pencil lines on my newly decorated kitchen wall.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
