prepayment supplier switch question

hi all hope this isnt a stupid question, i am switching from scottish power to edf, the transfer date has passed (only found out today), i have 2 meters, a key for electric and a card for gas. I have asked today about running down the credit and edf said run it down to 0.00 and then charge the key and card as per the instructions, my question is can i do it before the s.p credit runs out, so i can do it when is convenient for me, i dont mind having a pound or two left on each to get it done, is it better to do that way rather than waiting for it to go down to the last penny?

eta- i dont expect the money off each back from scottish power, just want rid of them

Yep. You can activate up the new key and card at any point after the supply officially switches. Depending on how the devices are set up, you may loose the credit at that point, or you may not.
