What to plant in late August/Early September
Options
Hi,
Me and my fiance are just about to move in to our new home at the end of this month, and I have my own garden for the first time!
I would really like to make this a "Kitchen Garden" and be able to plant vegetables, fruit, herbs etc
Would anyone be able to help me with some advice on what to plant at the end of August/September?
Thank you all!
Sarah

Depends how much space you have, and when you want to harvest
Plus of course the really obvious, only grow what you like to eat & is always expensive in shops, thus no point growing spuds / carrots if space limited, but every point in growing runner beans /.courgettes as always dear
You may find leek seedlings on sale, ideal to plant now, harvest 2012, or even 2011 for Christmas, depends on weather really
Fruit, space again, but raspberry canes are available, fruit 2012, always expensive to buy in punnets, but very easy to grow
You could check out Christmas new spuds, plant about now, there arfe threads on this, basically plant about 4 tubers in a large pot / container, keep sheltered, and have new spuds for serving with Christmas dinner
Herbs, well the usual suspects, chives, sage, thyme, rosemary. All dead easy & hardy, will stand all sorts of abuseEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
