Change in consumer act meaning you don't have to repay?

in Credit cards
I just got a phone call saying that the credit consumer act was changed and that any agreement taken out before 2007 you may not have to pay back as they breech this agreement or something.
They say they can claim it for me so I don't have to pay the balance of my credit card etc. The company is called consortium
They have asked for my credit card details. I am wary of giving this out over the phone really although they directed me to the .gov.org website showing they are a registered company with them - that could be faked though right?
Does anyone have any knowledge of this? I asked them to call back in an hour for the details.

In 2012 I pledge to:- Save £1 a day, meal plan, be more organised, have NSDs, set myself a budget AND STICK TO IT, throw all loose change into Sealed Pot and not open it till 29th November.:money:0 -

Also Government websites are gov.uk NOT gov.orgIf at first you don't succeed, maybe bomb disposal isn't the best career choice.0

I'll do it for you, if you give me £499

It's a scam designed to fleece money out of you. Yes, some pre 2007 agreements are unenforceable if the agreement didn't include the correct prescribed terms or wasn't signed, but CAB or a free advice session with a solicitor can check this for you for free, and give further advice if needed.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

My bad - it was justice.gov.uk
So basically you can or can't claim back? If its easy I will do it myself like we did with PPI0 -
It's not about claiming back. If you can prove it's an unenforceable credit agreement then it's basically that, unenforceable. Basically it means they can't pursue you through the courts. It doesn't write off the debt, it just means they can't chase you for it.vickieh1981 wrote: »My bad - it was justice.gov.uk
