HELP Passport Picture

I am going on holiday next month and renewing my passport.
After an hour of trudging around the towncentre i finally got to a machine that actually worked which charged £5! for each set of passport photos only to discover when i got home that every photo has a slight 8mm shadow over the shoulder
The shadow does not come across the face and is not to dark (a faint grey on some and slightly darker on the others) and the rest of the picture is to the guidelines.
The guidelines say "be free from shadows" and in there example there is a picture of a lady with a scarf creating a shadow on her face. My photos show a small shadow over the shoulder, do you think this is acceptable, has anybody had this and sent in the passports and not got a rejection to please redo pics?:(
I have asked my local postoffice but felt that he just wanted me to retake them in his shop and wasnt being honest.
Thanks for your help.

Well, you would appear to have two choices. Send them off as they are and risk being rejected - which presumably the PO have advised may happen or have them taken again and make sure they are correct when they are sent off.0

i sent passport renewal through check and send. 1st post office refused the photos because of faint scratches( had to really look to see them) went to another post office they accepted them and so did the passport office. photos were taken at a local photographers for £6 supplied there and then.0

Personally, given you are going on holiday soon and the passport offices appear to be very busy (it can now take 2 weeks to get an appointment for a same day passport) I would not risk them being rejected. Ideally find a shop were a person takes the photo as these are normally only £5.

Definately re-do them I had mine refused because of a very faint grey shadow, they said dont use the booths, they reject alot of the booth photo's because of the wrong colour background or shadows. Have them taken in the post office/photo shop. (I went to wildings)£100 - £10,0000

Just to add it was the passport office in liverpool that rejected my pictures.£100 - £10,0000
