Hello, first time on this thread so I hope I have posted in the correct place, can anyone recommend a good dry cleaning service to have my kingsize duvet cleaned, thought I would ask on here just before I took it to the local Johnsons where I will no doubt end up paying over the odds, Its too big to go in my washer as it is my heavyweight winter duvet TIA

I used to just go to the local laundrymat as their machines were big enough but have since stopped laundering my duvet as it turned out to be cheaper to buy a new one.0

Thanks for that, Yes I would normally just buy a new one but it is a goose down one that I treat myself to last year, must admit though didn't think of doing it myself at a laundromatSPC No. 295 - SPC No10 target £350

I don't bother with dry cleaning - I stick it in the laundromat's washer and then their dryer.
Even once it's been through the dryer, I still have to stick it on the washing line for the best part of a day. So I tend to wash it at the weekend.
I have a goose down duvet too - King size.
I had never thought of replacing it whenever it needed cleaning but, from an MSE point of view, that would probably be the best thing to do.0 -
I tried that once. Washing it in the Laundromat was OK, but it cost a fortune & took forever to get it dry! Have a look to see if you have a local laundry - that might be an easier option.0

I take the winter duvets to the launderette and have a service wash & dry - I pay £7 for my king size or £6 for DS1's double duvet. (DS2's single duvet thankfully fits in the washing machine as he still sometimes wets the bed
) Mum used to sent us down to the launderette in the summer holidays to put the duvets through a wash & dry, which would probably work out cheaper, but I decided my time is worth more than that so use the service wash & dry.
I always get the duvets out of the bag & leave over the clothes horse to air when I get them home to make sure they're dry before putting away.0 -
Why not stick it in the bath with some powder and walk around on it for a bit!
If the weather's nice and you stick it on the line (as long as your lines strong as when it's wet its very heavy) it should dry ok!
We've taken ours to the laundrette as well, but it's got a polyester lining and they wouldn't let us stick it in the drier (even though the duvet said it was fine) as they'd had a few fires because of them, so it still went on the line!0 -
My domestic washing machine has always coped fine with duvets of all sizes. I have no dryer, though, so a day on the washing line and another day on a rack over the bath is usually called for.0

Lol made me laugh at the bath bit, could put it in there with the grandkids and tell them it is special bath party:rotfl:SPC No. 295 - SPC No10 target £350
