Manuka Honey

Options
My dad bought me some Manuka honey, Medibee, UMF 10+ I've had it on toast and read a bit about it and its health benefits and wondered if anyone on here uses it and if so in what way and has it helped with anything? I read that it can be used topically, has anyone tried that?

This is new to me so any info would be interesting:)

I went through a stage of trying to use honey and Manuka on my skin.
It smells gorgeous, but used neat, it actually dries skin, as it absorbs water a bit.

So if you try it, I'd recommend incorporating a bit of water into the mixture.

My 9 year old son has takes it. He has bad asthma and during the winter I give him at least 2 spoons every day. It's apparently good for the immune system. I would say it's certainly helped him, but you can never quite be sure if it's that particularly that's made any difference ifyswim !

I suppose it's like many things, just a case of trying it and see if it works for you :-)

    regards

    I've been Money Tipped!
I use it as a face mask if my skin is ''angry'', i find it excellent. (I also tried manuka poil, but that wasn't great for me.).

At the moment my dog is having it applied under dressings by the vet for pressure sores and wound healing following a broken leg and surgery. It is the first time the vet has used it, prompted by me and the orthopaedic surgeon who did the op and they cannot believe the difference. It was presumed the dog wouldn#'t be able to be splinted but rather be crated for the last fortnight, as inevitably her skin wouldn't hold up to prolongued dressing....(problem with bony dogs!) but the ulcers hav been treated with manuka honey dressings as they have appeared and are healing well while still splinted. Her date for splint removal is in a week, and we will certainly make it now.
A friend also had it applied as dressings for accelerated wound healing following a cancer op.

For hayfever we actually take local honey not manuka. Neither of us suffer much anyway, so can't say how it works, we just like honey! Manuka honey IS delicious. :)

I found it fantastic a few years back when I got a cough that just wouldn't go. Every night for about three months id cough until I was sick and my ribs felt they were broken. Two teaspoons would soothe it enough for me to get to sleep

Thought I would update with this as strange things have happened:rotfl:I had the honey on toast for the first day, I didn't like it and felt very bloated straight after and for the rest of the day, the next day I had put on 1lb in weight, very very unusual for me, there was no other change in my diet, next day I tried it on bread, about 20 mins after I had a very upset stomach and felt dreadful for the day, weighed myself this morning and I've put on another 1lb:eek:despite feeling so rough yesterday I hardly ate:( I haven't tried it externally yet, dd had a spoonful last night and didn't like it at all but she didn't seem to have any other problems, any comments anyone?

None about the weight gain but I paid a lot of money for a jar of it during my early pregnancy when I came down with a chest infection. I had read it was nature's best antibiotic so I splashed out, hoping it would cure the infection and prevent me from taking antibiotics. After two weeks of taking it religiously and the infection getting worse, I ended up on prescribed antibiotics which started to shift it in a few days. £15 quid wasted - it does not cure chest infections lol.

May start taking it in winter if it is good for the old immune system.
I'll have some cheese please, bob.

We had this actually prescribed (prob a different grade) for my dog after she had her tail partially docked.

It was smoothed along the wound to help it heal faster.

It really helped too, but it was a pain to stop her licking it right off again!
