LloydsTSB Online Banking Issues?

Hi All

I have been trying off and on for a few months now to open both an esavings and an easy saver account with Lloyds online. I just want an account to pay in a set amount each month in order to have enough money to cover items such as car insurance, tax, house insurance etc when they become due.

Has anyone here succesfully managed to open one of the accounts? All I get is the error code 1700002 and the follwoing message:


We're sorry, but we're unable to open this account for you online. Please call us on 0845 300 0116, and we'll be happy to open it for you over the phone. We're open Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 10:00pm; Saturday and Sunday, 8:00am - 6:00pm.


There are plenty of comments on their website about how I can open one of these accounts with just a couple of clicks but it's not happened yet!

    I opened mine some time ago with no problems. The sites go down at certain times for updates, usually during the nite granted. What do they say when you call them?

    I've not called them, if I do have to open it some other way I'll just call into the branch. It's just a case of getting round to it.

    I doubt that it's the site being down for maintenance as I've tried it at different times.

    Roughly when did you open yours?

    Phone them and ask. It might be something simple like you need more ID.

  • Well I relented and called them and my savings account is now set up.

    I was told that this was an ongoing issue that's affecting a lot of people.
