Microsoft Update KB974318 Vista but I have XP

I have an XP machine set to automatically update.

For the last couple of weeks my machine has prompted to do this update at power down each time (daily).

It shows as successful on the update log and on two "forced" updates.

But it keeps on showing and is always outstanding if I force an update as "urgent".

Trouble is it is for Vista apparently.

I have tried killing it in the IE history with no luck.

Any ideas on how to stop this?

Are you sure it is Vista and onwards?

Run windows update, click to see the updates, can you left click the update to highlight it, then right click it and click hide - do not show?

I have just forced update again and it showing it once more on 8/8/11 but it is now showing it as an XP update as your link does.

    V odd.

It says it has applied it successfully again . I will try the hide option you suggest next time I reboot if it is still showing.

It says it has been successfully aplied before but keeps triggering so far.

This could be why, so possibly uninstalling it will let it be hidden

Thanks I did try this but couldn't kill it.

In the end I uninstalled SP3, reloaded it and took the auto updates and it seems to have resolved. This was a last resort but no problems.:j
