Prefab-extension pods any comments?

Hi we are looking for a quick and cost effective solution to downstairs living. My dear old dad has recently had major surgery and is due to leave hospital very soon. We have looked at stair lifts but the stairs are too narrow to accomodate one. There is little or no room for a downstairs toilet and being upstairs all day will be depressing and will wear out my dear old mum. I have been looking at prefab pods as a way of extending the downstairs and was wondering if anyone had any experience of them. (mum doesn't do building work at all well!)
Any other ideas please?

sorry - never heard of stair pods. However, have you considered trying to get a grant? Not sure about now, but youused to be able to get 100% grant (means tested I think) for a downstairs bathroom & bedroom for someone disabled.
Hope your dads ok
Sorry - above is not a quick solution0 -

is there anything on the site that actually shows you what it looks like, the quality of finish and does it come with any warranty?
i don't really see what it has over a standard extension apart from time, but an extension like that would be quick to build anyway - the time will be in planning and building regs approval, which is the same either way - if the price is good and the actual extension is decent quality then it might be a good idea.
As has been said, you should be able to get some grant funding for alterations of this nature, the ot would usually come to the house and make some recommendations about what it would need to be suitable...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks......... mum and dad have some savings which can be used. Our problems are :-
Mum gets VERY anxious when any building work is going on, (She was beside herself when BG came and moved the gas metre outside!)
We have no idea of how to choose a builder
Things need to be done quickly
It's hard to make decisions when so many people (family) are having a say.
We simply don't know what we are doing.(we are frightened of getting it wrong so not doing anything!)
The best/easiest thing would be for them to move to a better suited house, but ..family home etc
Thanks
