Cheque guarantee/debit card?

Options
Hi

On a loan application it asks whether or not I have a cheque guarantee/debit card?

I have a debit card so I assume I answer yes?

Why would this be asked on a loan application?

Because it is a financial product associated with identity and having a full bank account.

You don't have a cheque guarantee card though. Nobody does any more - this ended on 30th June this year.

  • It would be asked because prior to the withdrawal of the cheque guarantee scheme, it would have enabled you to make payment (via cheque) without necessarily having funds available.

Withabix - some people may still have cheque guarantee logos on their debit cards, albeit the faciliity is no longer accepted.
Before you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!
