2nd Hand Office Computer

Hi,

A friend has a computer which has come 2nd hand from an office. It has windows pre installed but no installation cd's or product key. I would guess it was an old networked PC and it probably has other office software installed as well.

Do you know if it is legally OK to use this copy of windows or would he need to buy his own?

Thanks for your help.

It is very difficult to buy a PC without windows nowadays, so even if the software is covered under a volume licensing agreement in use at the company, the odds are that the PC was bought with a license anyway and Microsoft have been paid, especially if it has a COA sticker on.

So I'd use it and don't worry, the company has been slighly negligent letting it out of the door without wiping though.

Office and other software is a bit iffy though.. just keep schtum.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
