Getting refund without original payment card

I'm sorry if this is the wrong board or the subject has been covered before.
My mother came to stay last week and took DD out for some 'retail therapy'.
She bought DD 2 bags from a shop that only has a few branches in the London area using her credit card.
Now she has returned home, nearly 200 miles away and DD has decided she doesn't really like the bags but felt pressurised into letting my mother buy them for her.
I have the receipt but obvioulsy not the credit card. Can a refund be put on my card so I can send the money back to my mother or will I be fobbed off with vouchers for a store that I am very unlikely to shop from in the future.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Has the stuff been used or just looked at, some shops only allow refunds if the item is faulty and not because a change of mind. Ask tomorrow what the policy is and ask if the card holder needs to be present for a refund or if it can be done over the phone.0

The retailers contract is with the person who purchased the goods, not whoever has a receipt and the goods.
The refund to the same card is a way to verify this, and is used in a lot of places.
That said, unless stated otherwise in store, you have no right to return a item due to a change of mind.0
