Ending joint tenancy

Hi, I recently gave my notice on a tenancy I had with my ex wife.

The letting agency said they needed both of us to confirm.

My ex assures me she has done so and I will check with agency.

My question is ......

If everyone is out of the property AND I have given the required notice, is it the exes problem only .....

Or am I somehow still involved ?

Surely once I give notice, and paid the required remaining month or so, I should be free of comeback ?

One person giving the appropriate notice in a joint-tenancy gives notice for both. Trouble starts when not all parties actually leave the property by the last day of notice. Do you think that this is likely to happen?
  • There is only me there, and im leaving well before the expiry, so no probs there.

Only thing I can think of is they knew we had split up, so asked for both parties in case one party wanted to stay ???

The notice ends the tenancy. If one of the joint tenant remains at the property then it is only between him/her and the landlord, the other ex-joint tenant(s) cannot be help liable for anything.
